Terms of Service

Terms for using the MailTrace MVP.

These terms describe the basic rules for testing and using MailTrace.

What MailTrace is

MailTrace is an MVP evidence-led mailbox investigation and chronology tool. It helps users build structured timelines from mailbox communications they choose to investigate.

MVP status

MailTrace is currently an MVP and testing version. Users should only connect accounts they are comfortable testing with.

User responsibility

  • Users are responsible for having the right to access and process the mailbox data they connect.
  • Users should not use MailTrace for unlawful access, harassment, surveillance, or misuse of another person’s data.

Microsoft account access

  • Users sign in with Microsoft.
  • MailTrace requests limited delegated permissions for sign-in and mailbox reading.
  • MailTrace does not request permission to send, edit, or delete emails.

Data handled

MailTrace may process selected or matching email metadata, sender and recipient information, subject, timestamps, body text needed for chronology, generated events, participants, and timeline entries.

No legal advice

MailTrace helps organise evidence and chronology. It does not provide legal advice or guarantee legal outcomes.

Availability

This MVP may change, break, or be unavailable during testing.

  • Users can stop using the service.
